When we started planning for the new kitchen we agreed to install a TV. The TV soon became a PC...and after looking around (this was before the HP touch PC and other alike came out) it became obvious that Apple iMac was the only way to go....only problem was that the 20" we wanted did not have removable mount or VESA compatible mouting....what to do?

The final product...looks like this

And if you want to see how we did this..click the link below and read on

I spent a long time surfing the web to figure out what to do. Looked at a 3rd party supplier of a bracket that allowed for wall mounting the iMac, but it was way to obvious and far out from the wall. I wanted something that was flush with the wall.. not too obvious but still stylish.

First I measured the back of the iMac and built a card board cut out that I tweaked until I could tread it on the mount.

I then measured the amount of space I needed behind (in the wall) to be able to tread without getting stuck (and needing to open the wall behind). I was lucky that my walls had enough room to the maneuver - about 11,5 cm of free space was needed. After this I tried with a bit of fiddling with the hole/slots and got it right (used a vibrate cutter to do the job).

Power is taken from the wall - all hidden. I also installed a USB TV-tuner card so we could use it for watching TV. It is hidden in the wall but can easily be taken out and switched if needed. The TV cable is also hidden in the wall.

Did a test mount.

Then it was down again - finish the kitchen (www.lill-ulv.no) and mount it again. Viola!

Note: After this I have added an aluminum blinder panel where you see the black "hole" - just to make it a bit more stylish (could obviously use a piece of wood and paint in the same color as the wall - a matter of taste).

Note: The keyboard is not mounted here (or the alu cover).

The keyboard is the wireless version that is placed on the mount with a velcro - so it can be taken down if needed. But to be honest, it works like dream on the mount as shown. The remote (that comes with the iMac) is also stored under neath the mount with velcro. It would of course have been better if the screen was touch, but using the wireless mouse on the bench works fine....for now ;-)
